What are you thankful for?
Who knew giving thanks could feel so uncomfortable?
As a kid, I remember being at a friend's house for Thanksgiving dinner, and part of their tradition was to share what we were grateful for.
This wasn’t something we did at my house, so as my turn approached, I felt a bit of panic. I thought I needed to come up with something big, something momentous that would be worthy of sharing. But as I searched my mind, I drew a complete blank.
When my turn finally came, all I could say was, “I’m grateful to be spending Thanksgiving with all of you.” It felt small and maybe even a little lame at the time, but what I didn’t realize was that simple, genuine gratitude had a powerful impact.
It wasn’t about having some grand statement—it was about truly appreciating the moment I was in. And in that moment, I felt the power of giving thanks.
As we celebrate Thanksgiving here in Canada, I’m reminded of that simple realization: gratitude doesn’t have to be reserved for special occasions, nor does it need to be attached to something monumental. What if we took the spirit of Thanksgiving and made it a daily practice, not just a seasonal tradition?
Gratitude is more than a fleeting feeling—it’s a mindset that can transform your life and business. When you make space for gratitude, it shifts your perspective from what’s missing to what’s already here, from obstacles to opportunities, and from stress to appreciation.
It’s easy to get caught up in the constant hustle—growth, deadlines, expectations that come with running your agency.
Taking a moment to feel grateful, whether for your team, your clients, or even the tough lessons learned, shifts your focus and lightens the load you’re carrying.
Here’s the point: You don’t need a grand reason to feel grateful—start with the small, real moments. That’s where the power lies and that’s where the shifts happen.
Happy Thanksgiving!
You’ve got this.
