The Connection Between Mindfulness And Productivity
The signs of spring are all around you.
The days get longer, the snow begins to melt and the winter jacket and boots get put away.
I love spring because it’s a time of possibility and potential. You can feel your senses come alive as you shed the layers of clothing and have more time in daylight.
Spring is also a great time to explore the (surprising) connection between mindfulness and productivity.
If you’ve been in my community for a while, you’ll know that I believe in productivity that’s grounded in purpose. It’s more about doing the work that matters, rather than ticking off boxes on your TO DO List, right?
This is where mindfulness enters the productivity picture.
Paying attention on purpose is my favourite definition of mindfulness because it’s about being present in the moment with full awareness.
Mindfulness is foundational when it comes to doing your best work because it connects WHAT you're doing with WHO you’re being.
When you bring mindfulness into your way of working, you'll notice thoughts coming into your mind from time to time, but instead of becoming lost in them, you'll let them go and return to what you're doing.
On the surface this may seem like a simple act. In reality, there’s so much power behind it because it reconnects you with your true self — who you are BEING in the moment.
You can choose to be distracted and overwhelmed, or you can choose to work with calm and focus.
Your decision impacts your sense of inner peace and happiness throughout the day.
When you’re mindful, you’re fully present in the moment, rather than dwelling on the past or fretting about the future.
Working mindfully heightens your focus and leads you directly into flow, that powerful state of complete connection to your brilliance as you are fully immersed in an activity.
If you were to work in this way throughout your day, what would be possible?
I asked a group of clients that very question, and this is what they shared:
I would BE …
Calm
Confident
Inspired
Empowered
Intentional
Worthy
Abundant
Purposeful
Intelligent
Pretty powerful, right?
Imagine showing up every day feeling and BEING this way. What would be possible for you?
My invitation to you is to incorporate mindfulness into your springtime routine.
Let’s bring purpose to your productivity, reduce your stress, and improve your overall well-BEING.
Take the time to slow down and connect with yourself and the world around you.
You’re worth it.
