Do You Know Where To Focus In 2025?

This is the key to driving your agency’s vision forward.

It happened again, my friend.

I was working on writing this blog, when all of a sudden I caught myself opening an email that sent me down a rabbit hole of second-guessing one of my 2025 goals.

Has that happened to you? Have you had your focus shattered just when you thought nothing would break it?

It’s easy to get swept up in the latest trends and solutions promising rapid success. But with so much noise, staying focused on your Big Picture is essential.

As the year wraps up, now is the perfect time to refocus—not only to close out another cycle, but to set the stage for a new one with clarity and purpose.

One common trap I see agency owners fall into is setting vague goals like “improve client satisfaction” or “build a stronger team.”

These goals, while well-intentioned, lack the structure needed to make them actionable.

Without specifics, goals are difficult to measure, track, and achieve, leading to frustration and a sense of spinning your wheels.

The solution? Setting SMART goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.

Here’s an example to illustrate the difference:

Before: Improve our team’s project management skills.

This goal lacks clarity and direction. What does “improve” mean, and how will you know when you’ve succeeded?

After (SMART goal): Enhance our team’s project management capabilities by implementing a new project management software and providing quarterly training sessions, aiming for a 20% reduction in missed deadlines by the end of Q3.

This revised goal gives your team a clear path forward:

- Specific with a focus on software and training.

- Measurable through a 20% reduction in missed deadlines.

- Achievable yes, based on current resources.

- Relevant as it ties directly to improving team performance.

- Time-bound with a target deadline of Q3.

Setting SMART goals for the year ahead brings clarity and focus. When you write your goals with intention, it’s easier to see the result you’re working toward, making the goal feel tangible and achievable.

Year-end isn’t only for wrapping up loose ends; it’s a chance to align with your larger vision. Ask yourself:

What are the key goals that will drive my agency forward? Are they structured as SMART goals, so they’re actionable and achievable?

Refocusing on meaningful goals will help you avoid distractions, make intentional decisions, and step into the new year with confidence as the visionary leader your agency needs.
